I love that I have been able to live in the middle of a forest, in the artist community of Idyllwild, CA, since 2002. Being surrounded by the beauty of nature daily is inspiring to my art. I am also a teacher at the international boarding high school, Idyllwild Arts Academy, teaching students from around the world painting and drawing.
As an artist, I have found that there have been times where it has been easier or harder to make art. Always, I have kept a sketchbook to capture thoughts and ideas, but until recently I was overwhelmed with the idea of really creating as I was in pure survival mode after my husband passed in 2019 of heart failure at 39, leaving his two children who were ages one and five. Art at that time became something that I didn’t even know if I would ever be able to do again. But now, after we have worked on healing and living again, I am able to take the time to really see how amazing the world is, and share this view with my children. They are growing up knowing that the world can take away what we love the most, but we can find joy and love again in our hearts.
